supplement facts
Paeonia lactiflora root (Peony)
An imbalance of hormones can lead to irregular menstrual cycles. Peony decreases symptoms of PMS and irregular periods. Traditionally used in Western Herbal Medicine to reduce symptoms of premenstrual tension, it’s clinically proven to help regulate PMS.
Gymnema (Australian cowplant)
This Australian native plant is used in Ayurvedic medicine to decrease sugar cravings by blocking sugar receptors on the taste buds, and suppressing sweetness.
Vitamin B6
B6 helps the body convert amino acid, tryptophan, from protein in our diet to serotonin which regulates mood, while B12 supports nervous system health and can help boost energy.3
Viburnum opulus (Cramp Bark)
As the name suggests, cramp bark is a plant, traditionally used in Western Herbal Medicine, as an antispasmodic to relieve menstrual cramps and menstruation pain by relaxing the muscles and reducing contractions.
Magnesium
This vital nutrient relieves muscle cramps when dietary intake is inadequate by relaxing the muscles of the uterus and supports normal muscle contractions.

Questions?

We’ve got answers brought to you by Kin’s women’s health experts.

Is it safe to take this with the contraceptive pill?

This product is NOT recommended to be taken while on any form of hormonal contraception as it contains Paeonia Lactiflora which can interfere with the efficacy of contraceptive medication.5 Please consult with your healthcare practitioner on whether this product is suitable for you.

What factors contribute to symptoms of PMS?

Factors that can contribute to PMS symptoms include:

  • Stress
  • Excessive body weight – women with a BMI higher than 30 are three times more likely to have PMS than those with a healthy BMI
  • Smoking – smokers are twice as likely to have severe PMS symptoms compared to non-smokers
  • Family history and genetics
  • Cultural and social environment
Is this suitable to take every day?

Absolutely. For some people, symptoms usually stop during or at the beginning of the menstrual cycle so there is at least one symptom-free week before symptoms start returning, which is not very long at all. We recommend taking this daily as part of your vitamin or supplement regime.

How can PMS symptoms be managed?

While there is no “cure” for PMS, symptoms can be managed through lifestyle and dietary changes (things like exercising regularly, trying to get more sleep, quitting smoking, reducing caffeine and alcohol, and managing stress). Supplements like The Hormone Harmony contain ingredients shown to help symptoms of PMS. Some people opt for hormone treatments such as the contraceptive pill or anti-depressants - if you’d like to explore these further, please contact your healthcare practitioner.

Why do I crave sugar around the time of my period?

The long and the short of it: blame it on hormones. Studies show women have more food cravings during the luteal phase of their menstrual cycle.6 Some experts also hypothesise that we crave sugary foods during our period to boost our serotonin levels (treats taste extra good when we’re feeling bad, right?). While there’s of course nothing wrong with comfort food or snacks, it’s all about moderation.

Can the supplements be taken while pregnant and breastfeeding?

No, this supplement cannot be taken while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can I take different supplements together?

We recommend consulting with a healthcare professional before taking multiple supplements together (Kin or other brands) to ensure you’re not exceeding the recommended daily intakes of any ingredient, and to assess any interactions with medications you may be taking.

Who can take these supplements?

These formulas are designed for adults only. Please consult a health professional if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking medication or other supplements, or have an existing medical condition.

Can I take these supplements with the Prenatal?

No, do not take this supplement if you are taking The Prenatal. Please note, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or plan to take multiple supplements together, please seek advice from a health professional on whether the supplements will be suitable for your individual needs.

Where are the supplements made?

These are made in Sydney, Australia.
